Casting is to be announced soon.
Cicatriz has become a hot property across Europe, with RTVE and Prime Video Spain joining forces with Telekom Srbija in this first-of-a-kind large-scale co-production between Spain and the Adriatic countries.
Plano a Plano and Mexican studio, Dopamine, based in Mexico City and Madrid, share the adaptation rights of the global best-seller from Juan Gómez-Jurado who is the most-read Spanish thriller author worldwide and hugely popular in Southern and Eastern Europe, including the Adriatic Territories.
César Benítez, president of Plano a Plano, defines this co-production as “an ambitious project that opens a new path for international collaborations for Plano a Plano and allows us to approach other business models. We were delighted to collaborate with Asacha Group to help us package this show and are very thankful for the support of TVE, Prime Video, and Telekom Srbija. We are going to produce a great fiction aimed at the global market”.
Fidela Navarro, CEO of Dopamine tells “Cicatriz is an example of how to get different works from the same literary universe (in this case by the great Juan Gómez-Jurado) to reach international screens under different commercial models. Innovation and diversity in the world of co-production thus achieve new goals for studios, authors, talents, and platforms. For us as a Studio, producing at the same time an Original and a Multi-window by the same author is a source of pride”.
José Pastor, Head of Fiction and Cinema areas at RTVE, says “We are thrilled to be part of such a strong IP from Juan Gómez-Jurado, one of the most prominent Spanish writers in recent years. We expect from Cicatriz a great hit series both in Spain and abroad”.
Aleksandra Martinović, director of the Multimedia Division from Telekom Srbija added: “Telekom Srbija, as the biggest telco operator in Southeast Europe, is thrilled that we have established cooperation on this level for the first time in the Adriatic countries. Thanks to this project, we are now proud partners with a globally respected team of producers and writers, each with an incredible strong background. Also, I would like to mention the esteemed commissioners like Prime Video and TVE. What makes this project truly authentic is the engaging storyline set in Serbia and with Serbian actors”.
