The AVOD Pluto TV platform, that is already available in Android and iOS (as of Tuesday afternoon) as well as on pay-TV operators, mobile phone and broadband providers —many of which will be announced later on— represent for JC Acosta, president of ViacomCBS Networks Americas, “the platform for the future”.
Acosta, who had an exclusive interview with Ríchard Izarra in the #PRODUprimetime space, highlighted that Pluto TV is an interesting business model in which everyone is included as a partner, sharing revenues based on advertising. “It is a partnership among partners to win together,” he said.
He also spoke about the original production in Latin America that they started 10 years ago in Caracas, Venezuela with Isa TKM co-produced with Sony, “a novela that crossed the world and opened the window of the local original production, later in Miami, and we are now in Colombia with the second season of Club 57,” he mentioned.
He expressed that creating content gives them the opportunity of producing not only for their brands but for third parties. “We can start in the premium service with the scoop on Paramount+, then go to the pay-TV channel, after to Pluto, and thus we have created the life of the entire programming cycle. That is how we`ve negotiated many of the co-productions.”
Acosta, who is an accountant, combines creativity in numbers and business. “I don`t want to be the person who says no, but the person who says, let`s see how we`ll do it so it`s profitable and something important that can build the company”.
