VIX announced that it has launched its newly-acquired Pongalo channel on Amazon Prime Video Channels in Mexico.
The Pongalo channel, which is among Prime Video’s first channel offerings in Mexico, is now available for 49 Mexican Pesos after a week-long free trial with no long-term contracts and the ability to cancel at any time.
The Pongalo channel features one of the world’s largest libraries of film, television and telenovela hits and classics from across Latin America and Hollywood. This vast selection of international programming in Spanish ranges from Venezuelan classics like Mi Gorda Bella to exceptional contemporary productions from Colombia like Hermanitas Calle and La Seleccion.
“We’re excited to extend our successful AmazonPrime Video Channels offering into Latin America, beginning with today’s launch in Mexico. As we expand our OTT products into more and more markets, this is an important milestone for us, coming only 6-weeks after closing VIX’s acquisition of Pongalo,” said Rafael Urbina, VIX Chairman and CEO, and Rich Hull, Chief Strategy Officer.
After its acquisition of Pongalo, VIX now controls a content catalog of over 14,000 hours of owned, licensed and original content, which is the largest Spanish-language film and television library based in the US. The company has also partnered with US studios to produce and market films with “Latino and multicultural feel and mainstream appeal.”
