Weighing his limited options and finances, Walter realizes that he is willing to do just about anything to ensure that his pregnant wife and disabled son are well provided for when he is gone. And so begins an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride that takes him from the classroom to the dangerous business of drug trafficking, as he decides to use his extensive knowledge of chemistry to start a methamphetamine production lab with one of his former students, José Miguel. Once Walter starts reaping the enormous financial benefits of selling his high quality meth, and consequently gaining notoriety and power within the criminal world of dealers and drug cartels, he undergoes an irreversible metamorphosis. What was initially a desperate short-term measure taken for a noble cause becomes his life calling, and the seemingly good man he once was is revealed as intrinsically ruthless and dangerous, much to his own surprise.
