Pedro Ortiz, creator and executive producer of the new seasons of Una Familia de 10, Renta Congelada and Simón Dice, from Televisa´s comedy bar Noche de Buenas, assured that the genre is experiencing a great moment in Mexico. Familia de 10 returns after 11 years, and Simón Dice and Renta Congelada “are franchises that are being consolidated and we expect them to become classics”.
Ortiz assured that after a decade, the keys to generating humor through situation comedies remains. However, there has been a change regarding openings and the possibility to have a more candid and literal language at 11pm. It is aimed at a more adult audience.
“The audience rules and Televisa has listened to it. After a few years of absence, comedy comes in bar format and has been very successful. It is pure entertainment, therapeutic. At Televisa, they launched it as the house of comedy, and it is true, that is how it has been,” she stated.
Along with these three productions, Ortiz is working on a new romantic fiction comedy that is longer (approximately 60 episodes). It is Ciega a Citas (tentative title), the Mexican version of the original Argentinean, that started shooting in May.
