The alternative sports channel PX Sports has had a good year in the region during which they consolidated very important distribution agreements: the signal was launched in different territories of Claro video and Millicom; a month ago they entered Cablevision Argentina in the basic digital package and are doing the same on other platforms.
“In US Hispanic we are on AT&T U-verse and Sling and in conversations with many platforms. We are close to continue growing in this market,” expressed Alejandro Mercado, CEO of PX Sports.
Mercado added that the channel has strengthened its production by opening offices in Argentina and adding Gravedad Zero, which is one of the most important production companies in the South Cone in the field of extreme sports. “We are very excited about all the growth,” he mentioned.
He also commented that they have been doing massive events. Recently, they reached a Guinness record in Medellin, Colombia, in the longest urban downhill track. “We are going to other similar events in Panama and in Bolivia,” he ended.
When consulted on the fact that sports disciplines such as skateboarding and surfing have been recognized for the Olympic Games, Mercados said: “We are pioneers of extreme disciplines. It is what we have been dreaming for a couple of years, and today we are consolidating it. People already start seeing us as a means for spreading and distribution of action or alternative sports,” he said.
