Gustavo Cisneros Rendiles, president of the Board of Directors of Cisneros, a Spanish-language media and entertainment conglomerate that includes companies such as Venevisión, Cisneros Media, Cisneros Studios, and the Miss Venezuela Organization, died at the age of 78 in New York.
“Venevisión informs with deep regret the death of the President of the Board of Directors of Cisneros, Gustavo Cisneros Rendiles, an exceptional leader who transcended business, characterized by his strategic vision and commitment to innovation (…),” the Venevisión channel wrote on its X (former Twitter) account.
“Cisneros was a visionary leader whose influence extended far beyond the confines of the business environment, standing out for his strategic vision and commitment to innovation,” added the Corporation.
WHO WAS GUSTAVO CISNEROS RENDILES?
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, on June 1, 1945, Gustavo Cisneros Rendiles was president of the Board of Directors of Cisneros, one of the business groups with a relevant global presence in areas such as media, entertainment, telecommunications, digital advertising and consumer products.
Until his last days, Gustavo Cisneros was a member of the Board of Directors of Barrick Gold Corporation and Advisor to RRE Ventures LLC. Additionally, he had prominent roles in various organizations, including the United Nations Task Force on Information and Communications Technology (ICT), the Rockefeller University College Council, and the Babson College Board of Overseers.
Together with his wife, Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, he was committed to contributing to the quality of education in Latin America, especially in Venezuela and the Dominican Republic, through the Cisneros Foundation. His efforts included programs such as GO, AME, the channel TV cl@se, and the alliance with Tu clase, tu país.
Until his passing on December 29, 2023, Gustavo Cisneros was a business leader with a strategic vision and commitment to innovation.
