The AVOD Riivi made an alliance with the crowdfunding platform Broota, to raise in two months US$800,000 in order to reach Argentina and Mexico markets during the first semester. It is expected that Mexico will attract the largest number of active Riivi users.
The company will also use this strategy to approach the US market and eventually Spain. “Our idea has always been to connect with the Latino public in the US, which has been underrepresented on screen” explained Cristóbal Güell, CEO and founder of Riivi.
In 2022 Riivi expanded to the Colombian and Peruvian markets achieving around 30% more growth than that initially obtained when launching the platform in Chile. This allowed revenues six times higher compared to 2021, and an increase in active users, more than 350,000 in the three markets in which it is located. Through the alliance with Broota, people willing to invest can find startups that need financing. “This alliance will allow us to get closer to users and will encourage people to invest in Latino culture. We want more individuals to invest in our stories and culture, in order to revolutionize the world of streaming,” explained Güell.
“Riivi presents a unique value proposition that is managing to capture the Latin American entertainment market, that for the first time, can access content in their language and with the technology that we are using nowadays. With Broota, we see a very relevant impact in terms of promoting culture and the arts in our region, allowing people to connect with this purpose,” said Martín Delanghe, COO of Broota.
