May 10, 2024

Mazón was an integral part of TelevisaUnivision, bringing his two decades of experience in the entertainment industry and providing a significant amount of guidance and leadership to ViX

Rodrigo Mazón, who previously worked at Netflix for over six years, will be stepping down from his role as Executive VP and CCO of ViX starting July 1st, as announced through an internal memo by Pierluigi Gazzolo, CEO of ViX.

Mazón had been in a prominent position at Netflix as VP of Content until he was directly recruited by Wade Davis, CEO of TelevisaUnivision, who considered him a key piece of the structure and launch strategy of ViX. To accomplish this, Rodrigo relocated part of his Netflix team, bringing his right-hand man Augusto Rovegno along in his move from Hollywood to Miami.

Mazón lasted 3 years in the role, and was an integral part of TelevisaUnivision, bringing his two decades of experience in the entertainment industry and providing a significant amount of guidance and leadership to ViX.

In Gazzolo’s letter, he added: “Together, from the inception of our streaming unit to the definition and execution of our ongoing content strategy, we have worked closely and with exceptional speed to shape the trajectory of ViX. Your unparalleled knowledge and experience in the industry expertly guide us through complex programming and content strategies that have created the first large-scale global streaming services specifically tailored for the Spanish-speaking world, and your tireless work leaves ViX widely prepared for future success.

During his time with us, Rodrigo has been a visionary, a role model, and a much-loved friend to many of us. As he prepares to embark on new projects, I want to take this opportunity to extend my sincerest thanks for his countless contributions to the company and for his constant dedication and hard work at ViX. He stands alongside each of us as we have made it our personal mission to elevate Latin storytelling and Hispanic creators here in the US and around the world through excellent content that always wins; he will be greatly missed.

I am confident that Rodrigo will share his plans in due time and I hope we can continue to collaborate on future projects. While transitions like these can be bittersweet, they also present opportunities for growth and renewal. Over the coming weeks, I will continue to work closely with the team to identify our content team’s needs and determine the best way forward. We appreciate your patience and commitment during this transition period.

I remain deeply impressed with the talent here at TelevisaUnivision and I am confident that with the dedication and teamwork of each of you, ViX will continue to thrive and achieve much success. Join me in extending our sincerest wishes to Rodrigo as he embarks on this new chapter in his career. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
