The grand finale of Telemundo’s La Reina del Sur 2 starring Kate del Castillo as Teresa Mendoza, reigned as the #1 program at 10pm in the US, regardless of language, averaging 1.14M Adults 18-49, according to Nielsen.
With the finale of La Reina del Sur, Telemundo’s Monday to Friday 8-11pm prime average surpassed the combined delivery of all other Spanish broadcast networks among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 with 799K and 333K, respectively. Throughout its 60-episode run, the explosive sequel ranked as the #1 regularly-scheduled program in Spanish-language broadcast television season-to-date averaging 1.07M Adults 18-49 and 422K Adults 18-34, and reaching 12.5M total viewers.
Since its premiere on April 22, La Reina del Sur fueled Telemundo to the #1 position in Spanish language television, outperforming the combined delivery of Univision and Unimas in Monday-Friday primetime in the key adult demos.
During the series’ run, Telemundo also ranked as the #3 network, regardless of language, in its timeslot among Adults 18-49, behind NBC and ABC, and consistently beating top cable networks like TNT, ESPN & Adult Swim (TBS, A&E).
Created by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, La Reina del Sur 2 is written by Roberto Stopello, Juan Marcos Blanco, Miguel Ferrari, and José Miguel Nuñez. Marcos Santana is executive producer and showrunner of the series, with Telemundo’s Martha Godoy and AG Studios’ Rodrigo Guerrero as executive producers.
La Reina del Sur 2 is a co-production between Telemundo Global Studios and Netflix. Telemundo has the exclusive rights in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and Netflix has the exclusive rights for the rest of the world for OTT.
