“For us LA Screenings is the launching platform of series that have been commissioned in the US. This year we will have two dramas, a comedy for open TV, and several productions in Spanish that we are making in Latin America,” commented Álex Marín, EVP of International Distribution for Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada at Sony Pictures Television.
For the US, they have the serie The Good Doctor, S.W.A.T. (both one hour long) and Alex, Inc. (30´). “They are pilots that are now in production”.
They also have Paquita la del Barrio, that is currently being aired in Mexico, on Imagen, and “a series that we are presenting next week, called Falsos Falsificados, that is a one hour series produced in Mexico”.
In 2017, “the idea is for the production company in Latin America to produce a thousand hours”. According to Marín, audiences are still watching linear TV, but he thinks one of the challenges is to continue making the TV business relevant for the advertiser.
