Eli Velázquez, executive VP at Telemundo Deportes and Javier García, senior VP general manager of Multicultural Services at Comcast, presented Road to Rio explaining the efforts regarding coverage and technology that will be deployed to take the 2016 Rio Olympic Games to the Hispanic audience. The presentation was made in Telemundo Deportes modern studios in Hialeah. “The Olympics are an event we see as transformative for the entire company. Comcast, NBC Universal and Telemundo Enterprises are proud to present the coverage of an event that is followed by more than 200 million US citizens for 17 days of actions, expressed Velázquez. The executive also mentioned some of the talents Carlos Hermosillo, Samy Sadovnik, Édgar López, Karim Mendiburu and René Giraldo- who will participate in the coverage, led by Andrés Cantor.Velázquez expressed that these will be the fourth Olympic Games broadcast by the company. He also said that this year they are adding 100 hours of coverage compared to London 2012, and that for the first time, they will air the event on two channels at the same time: Telemundo and NBC Universo.For his part, García explained how Comcast´s X1 platform allows the Hispanic audience to personalize the way they consume the content that is available to them. He said that the platforms technology allows filtering content according to country, athlete and discipline, as well as switching from English to Spanish. The Olympic product is thought for multicultural families, he expressed.
