Lisette Graffe, Art Director of the Telemundo series Vuelve a Mí, said it was a creative process that they loved but very challenging. “CDMX and Miami are two different cities. It was challenging to record it in Mexico in two weeks and make it feel in the same place,” she highlighted.
Graffe has been in Telemundo since 2016. She was part of the production of Betti in NY, 100 Días para Enamorarnos, La Suerte de Loli, and La Mujer de Mi Vida at Telemundo Center, and in the design of Mi Familia Perfecta and Sangre de Mi Tierra at what used to be Telemundo Studios in Doral.
She mentioned the main locations of the story: CDMX, Aguascalientes, and Ciudad Juárez.
“For the design of the mansion, we were inspired by the wealthy people from CDMX. We made a trip to get to know and understand the atmospheres; we visited many places where we saw the finishes of floors, ceilings, brick arcades, caico floors, and wood. It is a traditional Mexican architecture,” explained Graffe.
One of the satisfying aspects of Graffe’s line of work is studying the atmosphere. “For Betti En NY, we also traveled to CDMX to capture Mexico, to capture the essence of the look and feel of the city and bring it all back and show it on the sets,” she said.
Also for Vuelve a Mí, Graffe’s team and the wardrobe and makeup teams researched the actors’ looks. “We had to research the look done in the latest projects. The idea was to take a step back to make Liana (Kimberly dos Ramos’s character) different from Kimberly, finding ways to make a radical change between both. It is a beautiful work of research carried out by our makeup designer, Jesús Hichan, and the costume designer, Daniela Girón, presenting us all with that story.”
