Telemundo Media, together with the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) at Florida International University (FIU), announced the graduation of seven students from the inaugural class of Hispanic Media Futures, an innovative student development program to train future Hispanic journalists and communicators. The groundbreaking partnership was initially announced in May. “We are extremely proud of each student that has participated and graduated from the program. This collaborative initiative with FIU is completely aligned with Telemundo’s commitment to education, to grow the talent pool within the Spanish-language television industry and to nurture the next generation of Latino executives and decision makers,” said Emilio Romano, president, Telemundo Media. “Our collaboration with Telemundo is providing the resources to more accurately position our students for an outstanding career in Hispanic media and communications,” said Raul Reis, SJMC Dean. The program is part of a multi-level, multi-year commitment by Telemundo to advance the inclusion of Hispanic professionals in the communications industry.
