As part of the 2022 screening of Telemundo Studios, Karen Barroeta, Executive VP of Production and Development for Telemundo Global Studios, announced the return of the superseries for an eighth season El Señor de los Cielos, with Rafael Amaya performing again as Aurelio Casillas.
El Señor de los Cielos, with some 700 hours of production to date, will return with “more emotion and drama than ever,” she said.
The screening, which included Beau Ferrari, chairman of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and stars such as Mario Cimarro, Danna García, Rafael Amaya, Blanca Soto, Angélica Celaya, Adrián Matos and Mauricio Islas, was also an occasion to present the new action dramas El Conde (title to be confirmed), starring Fernando Colunga who read on a video the lines of this new series, based on The Count of Monte Cristo by Alejandro Dumas); Todos los nombres de Aura (title to be confirmed, 60 episodes divided into three seasons) starring Blanca Soto; and the thriller Culpable o Inocente (title to be confirmed).
In addition, during the event two single series that will start production soon were announced: Cuando Habla una Mujer (title to be confirmed), the first audiovisual adaptation of the recently acquired work by Corín Tellado, and El Doctor de los Milagros (title to be confirmed), a collection of stories of faith inspired by the Venezuelan doctor, the Beatus José Gregorio Hernández, known for caring for the poor. Other series presented during the screening include Pasión de Gavilanes II, which premiered its second season this Monday the 14th on Telemundo, and La Mujer de mi Vida, starring Angélica Celaya, Iván Sánchez, Mauricio Islas and Catherine Siachoque, which has just concluded recordings at Telemundo Center. Also a video of the third season of La Reina del Sur with Kate del Castillo was displayed.
Melodrama is the main protagonist of this roster of new productions. “These are stories that connect, are unique, family sagas, universal stories with high production values,” Barroeta said. The studio currently has 25 projects in development and 1,000 hours in pre-production, while the last two years had been challenging, they had never stopped, she explained.
