The magic of Roberto Gómez Bolaños’ Chespirito was felt in Brazil at the World Cup, when fans wore costumes of some of its beloved characters such as El Chapulín Colorado. According to Bolaños’ son and Televisa producer Roberto Gómez Fernández, Televisa’s content is relevant in Brazil and it’s important for the company to bring its stories to that market.“Mi father is very excited about seeing his presence at the World Cup through his character El Chapulín Colorado. This speaks to the impact of his characters that, despite the language difference (it airs in Portuguese in Brazil), I could say they feel like they belong there,” said Gómez Fernández. He praised the Brazilian production industry, pointing out that the country “is a great producer of telenovelas that are very relevant to Mexico, and it’s important for our novelas to have penetration there.”He concluded by saying that in addition to melodrama and comedy, current telenovelas should also deal with real and current topics. One such case is El Color De La Pasión, produced by Gómez Fernández. It airs Monday through Friday at 6:20pm on Televisa’ Canal 2.
