The Javits Center was the stage where the first upfront of the merged TelevisaUnivision took place, with an attendance of more than a thousand people. The presentation, hosted by Donna Speciale, president of Advertising Sales and Marketing for the US; Pierluigi Gazzolo, President and Chief Transformation Officer, and Luis Silberwasser, president of Univision Television Networks, opened with a speech by Kimberly Gómez, a young Latina who represents TelevisaUnivision’s average audience: bicultural and bilingual.
“I live at the junction of two cultures: Latino and American, which means I live my life to the fullest. And my superpower is that I move swiftly through both worlds since I speak both Spanish and English. Spanish is my culture, it is my home, it is the language of my parents and when they address me, they make me feel safe and understood. English is the language I use to be successful and achieve the dreams that my parents wanted for me. When I speak English it is for you to understand me, not the other way around. And sometimes I speak a mix of the two languages because it works,” said Gómez.
Many talents participated in the event, such as Alejandra Espinoza and Sebastián Yatra; Jorge Ramos from Noticias Univision and Algo Personal who, together with Emilio Stefan, presented the Univisionarios program that highlights Latinos with great achievement’s stories; Lili Stefan and Raúl de Molina from El Gordo y la Flaca; soccer stars as Landon Donovan and Oswaldo Sánchez, and sportcaster Adriana Monsalve from TUDN to talk about sports content and rights; and the actress Fabiola Guajardo to talk about the seriela Los Ricos también Lloran.
The event closed with Sebastián Yatra performing several of his hits, such as “Dos Oruguitas” from the Disney movie Encanto.
