TelevisaUnivsion presented its new Sunday program Veo Cómo Cantas, a Korean format distributed by Fremantle and which premiered on August 20th at 9pm on Las Estrellas. Its producer, Miguel Ángel Fox, said that they made adjustments to adapt it to Spanish resulting in content unique for TV.
“We modified the format seen in England and Spain to have a Mexican and Spanish version because it will also broadcast in the US. We wanted it to be very Mexican, extending two hours, with the distinction of having participants with stories and a lot of energy,” he commented.
Hosted by Faisy, Veo Cómo Cantas has ten participants – good and bad singers – and Natalia Téllez, and with Erika Buenfil, José Eduardo Derbez, Marjorie de Souza, Beto Cuevas, and Ricardo Montaner as advisors. The contestant accumulates money when a bad singer is eliminated, adding to the excitement and reward.
“It is a very different format from anything done in the last ten years and has been a great bet from the moment of selecting the talent. We have a great project on our hands,” added the producer.
The final round includes musical figures such as Edith Márquez, Omar Chaparro, Edén Muñoz, Sofía Reyes, Paty Cantú, and Lasso performing with the last contestant who will be singing a lucky duet. If everything goes well with the singing, the contestant will win a great prize; if not, the result will be a musical disaster, and the contestant will lose everything.
