According to Javier Nuche, general director of Atresmedia Internacional, the pandemic has made clear the reason for the existence of an area like business diversification where he works.
Nuche, who was a guest on #PRODUprimetime with Ríchard Izarra last Thursday, said: “We are witnessing, for example, that international businesses are being more resistant than domestic ones, simply because of their nature; cable operator’s revenues are more constant and less dependent on the specific economic cycle, as can happen with digital revenue that can drop in a sharper way.”
Another signal that is aiming to the robustness of the business diversification in international, he expressed, is that contracts continue to be signed and more launches will be made. “There is more TV consumption and there will be more opportunities to watch our channels. Especially those who are looking for information on Spain, are going to tune into channels such as Antena 3,” he adds.
Another business that has a future, according to Nuche, and which he has been working on for five years, Media for Equity, that identifies startups with high growth potential and give them advertisement in exchange for equity.
“It could be an interesting moment to look for new opportunities in this segment since it is foreseeable that in the next few months we will have a higher inventory availability that allows us to do those investments with media,” he commented.
He also highlighted the performance of the OTT business through ATRES Player. “It is like a growth axis,” he explained.
