Madrid is home to the first The Kitchen hub in Europe. “With a large number of the company’s team members having already relocated to the region, our immersion into Spain’s busy production capital has been swift,” explained Max Wynen, VP of Global Operations at the world leader in language localization. The company is also advancing in the construction of allied networks to train talent for the future.
Alexis Cárdenas, VP of International Sales, recently gave two important master classes within the Master’s Program of the ECAM (Film and Audiovisual School). The courses were for a Master’s Degree in Executive Production and a Master’s Degree in Post-Production Coordination. “These two classes offer vital insights into many aspects of the language localization process,” said Cárdenas. “The Kitchen has seen great success and further penetration in the global language market, and the knowledge I am passing on to master class attendees is very important for a general understanding of the industry.”
Students are seasoned professionals, mostly from the world of distribution, production, and operations. “This is the third year that I have the opportunity to participate in this program and next year I plan to take the students to The Kitchen Spain to see first-hand everything we have been discussing,” added Cárdenas.
The Kitchen remains at the forefront of changes and growth in the industry in Madrid. “We are training the next generation for our business,” said Cárdenas.
Wynen is also betting on sharing his knowledge and prepared a class for the European University of Madrid in the Master’s Degree in Language Translation, Dubbing and Subtitling. “We talk about dubbing as a universal language,” he said. “While we are delighted to help the new generation of language professionals, we want to go beyond just a class. We will be creating an internship program in conjunction with the university and it will be a reflection of the ongoing and very successful internship programs that have been running for years at our US headquarters.”
