After eight years, La Reina del Sur starring Kate del Castillo as Teresa Mendoza returned with a vengeance to Telemundo on Monday night ranking as the #1 broadcast television show in America at 10pm among Adults 18-49 averaging 1.26M viewers – more than double Univision’s audience and outperforming CBS’ Bull and ABC’s The Fix, according to Nielsen.
The premiere delivered 2.36M Total Viewers and reached a cumulative audience of 1.59M Adults 18-49 and nearly 3 million Total Viewers.
Fueled by La Reina del Sur premiere, Telemundo out-delivered the combined viewership of Univision and UniMás by 26% in primetime among adults 18-49. In addition, La Reina del Sur was the # 1 broadcast television program regardless of language among adults 18-34 (495K) in overall primetime.
The network’s most ambitious series in history also dominated social and was the most social drama series regardless of language on its premiere night. La Reina del Sur Season Two generated 584K actions across social platforms (Facebook, Instagram & Twitter) and 707K native views on Facebook.
