TV Azteca: A significant challenge lies in adapting to the rapid pace of industry evolution

Vanessa Maldonado| August 23, 2024

In her new position, Jessica Stescobich will be responsible for overseeing key areas, including signals, international sales, promotion, and international distribution

Jesica Stescobich, the newly appointed director of Distribution and Strategic Alliances at TV Azteca International shared exclusively with PRODU insights into her new role and the challenges she faces, including the integration and expansion of the company’s operations.

In her new position, Stescobich will be responsible for overseeing key areas, including signals, international sales, promotion, and international distribution. “Leading this team presents a significant challenge due to the multifaceted nature of our operations. There’s much more to our work than what is immediately apparent,” she noted. Her role involves coordinating these diverse departments to enhance the product offering and optimize the programming of the company’s channels.

“I’m developing a comprehensive strategy in collaboration with the entire team to optimize all aspects of our operations, including revenue, processes, and overall efficiency. My extensive experience enables me to leverage our collective knowledge and expand our business,” she noted.

A pressing challenge for TV Azteca is the effective integration of its various operational areas. “One of our primary goals is to leverage all available resources and integrate them seamlessly to deliver a superior product, ensuring our channels feature the best programming, advertising, and promotion,” Stescobich stated. She emphasized the importance of enhanced collaboration among teams to achieve more cohesive programming and promotion, acknowledging that while progress has been made, there is still room for improvement.

SYNERGY BETWEEN TRADITIONAL AND NEW PLAYERS

Furthermore, the rapidly evolving market landscape poses another substantial challenge. “Keeping pace with the industry’s rapid transformation is crucial, as new competitors are constantly emerging, and technology and digital innovation are driving the current landscape.” However, Stescobich emphasized the importance of maintaining traditional operations, which remain relevant and valuable, while simultaneously embracing new digital opportunities in light of the increasing presence of new market players and the dominant influence of technology.

From a distribution perspective, the director notes that despite industry adjustments, there remains a consistent demand for high-quality content. “There’s always an appetite for compelling content, and audiences are constantly seeking entertainment. While the acquisition strategies of various companies, including traditional media and FAST channels, have evolved, the fundamental demand for quality content persists,” she stated. In response to this evolving landscape, TV Azteca’s strategy involves adapting to diverse platforms and formats, encompassing both traditional television and digital broadcast channels.

“We maintain strong partnerships with Free TV and traditional television networks and have successfully adapted our offerings to FAST channels, where we’ve achieved significant success with our industry partners. I view distribution as an opportunity for strategic expansion. While TV Azteca excels in fiction and entertainment, our content creation division also boasts a vast library of compelling products for those seeking specific content, providing another avenue for growth. Regarding the distribution of our channels, it’s imperative to continuously refresh our programming and offerings. We must stay aligned with the rapidly evolving industry and continue to expand and adapt accordingly,” she emphasized.

A FEMALE VISION IN AN EXECUTIVE POSITION

Stescobich also addresses the significance of female leadership in her new role. While emphasizing her primary focus on professional performance, she acknowledges the importance of her position as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated industry. “I embrace the challenge of being a woman director today,” she stated, highlighting the value of offering fresh perspectives and contributing her experience to the development of business strategies.

In this way, Jesica Stescobich begins her role at TV Azteca with a focus on improving internal collaboration, adapting to a changing market, and maximizing the potential of content distribution. Her leadership is aimed at balancing tradition with innovation in a constantly evolving sector.
