TV Azteca: Casados a Primera Vista is our bet to bring international formats to the Mexican screen

Hosted by Patricia Manterola and Mauricio Barcelata and produced by EndemolShine Boomdog LLC México for TV Azteca, Azteca Uno, Casados a Primera Vista premiered on Sunday the 17th at 8pm, and it is considered a television experiment for matching couples.

“We bring this new reality show due to our commitment to content and to give the audience the best, is to try to be different, innovate, propose, because it is important to offer them something strong, proven, that we are sure it will entertain them” commented Adrián Ortega, director general content of TV Azteca.

Ortega spoke about the importance of a team seeking international formats for the Mexican screen. “To offer this type of content, it is important to know everything happening in the market, what is produced in all the continents, and travel to international fairs. Also, to know the television station, the targets, demographics, and studies, and from there, you take a path and propose new things.”

Casados a Primera Vista, a 14-episode show, will have three experts: Leopi, Erika Pavón, and Lala Gutiérrez, who searched for the exact formula for romance and designed a method to put together couples with certain affinities. The trio selected nine couples that showed a high degree of compatibility after surveys and personality tests. They will meet on their wedding day, be married before a civil judge, and, at the end of the season, will choose between staying married or getting divorced.

The project is part of TV Azteca’s year-end strategy, where new productions on screen are expected. “During this year, we released a lot of productions, premieres every month, and more talent. It has been a very strong 2023, full of successes, with many changes and fixing the channel protocol for the better,” Ortega said.

For the last months of the year, he highlighted the broadcast of the medical drama Doctora Lucía on October 2 on Azteca Uno, considered a blockbuster directed by Carlos Carrera, plus Crime Lottery 2, with Sara Maldonado as a new member of the cast. “We also have another reality show called DBut FC about soccer on Azteca 7 and multiplatform. Exatlón is also coming with a surprise season, and we continue with many special events.”
