Televisión Dominicana will air coverage of the 2020-2021 winter season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (or LIDOM by its acronym in Spanish), set to start Sunday, November 15th, at 6:30pm ET on Televisión Dominicana.

Beginning this weekend, viewers can tune in to the channel to enjoy up to six professional baseball winter league games per week until the scheduled regular-season conclusion on December 20. Televisión Dominicana has exclusive U.S. television rights to the home team games of Las Estrellas Orientales, Los Gigantes del Cibao, Los Leones del Escogido, and Los Toros del Este, which includes both regular season and playoff games.

Due to the precautionary measures necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, this season’s official schedule and format differ from years past: the 2020-2021 winter season’s Regular Series will consist of 30 game days with 6 days of rest for the teams; a best-of-three game series from December 21-23; a Semifinal Series from December 26 to January 4; and a Final Series which, at maximum, would run until January 15. The league champion will go on to represent the Dominican Republic in the 2021 Caribbean Series in Mexico. LIDOM’s winter season games are slated to run without fan participation in a bid to safeguard the health and safety of the players.

“The LIDOM winter season is always a highly anticipated event for the Dominican community on and off the Island. In light of the trying circumstances the Island has faced in the last year—it is the Caribbean nation hardest hit by the pandemic thus far—we were more committed than ever to bring this vital slice of Quisqueya to Dominican’s living in the U.S.,” said Francisco Giménez, SVP, and general manager of Cable Channels for Hemisphere Media Group, Inc., the network’s parent company.
