Fox Deportes kicked off its exclusive Spanish-language broadcast of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) with the heavyweight title fight, Choque de Titanes, between defending champion Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos on Sat, Nov. 12. The live heavyweight title fight is the highest-rated combat event in Spanish language Cable history, delivering a 3.88 household coverage-area rating, with 487,000 viewers (P2+) and 352,000 viewers in the key adults 18-49 demographic, according to Nielsen Media Research. Additionally, the networks live coverage of the undercard fights posted a 3.37 HH rating, becoming the second highest-rated combat sports event ever carried by Fox Deportes, attracting 365,000 viewers overall and 237,000 adults 18-49. Clearly the ratings for our first fight out of the gates is a testament to the popularity of this sport, and validates Foxs decision to strike a long-term deal with UFC. The exciting addition of UFC to our lineup will deliver outstanding entertainment to Latino fans of mixed martial arts, said Vincent Cordero, EVP and general manager for Fox Deportes. In total, Choque de Titanes delivered Fox Deportes its sixth-highest Total Day rating this year and the third highest in primetime. Fox Deportes started its content and promotional push to Choque de Titanes with the Oct. 28 launch of a special three-part series called Cain Velasquez: Brown Pride Part 1, telling the story of the man and his road to the championship, with Part 2 and Part 3 premiering Nov. 4 and 11, respectively. The series premieres averaged 81,000 viewers, and the replays delivered 147,000 P2+ leading up the live fight coverage on Nov. 12.
