In an emotional gathering held at Briza on the Bay in downtown Miami, Liliam Hernández, CEO, and Gema Lopez, COO, of Universal Cinergía Dubbing, celebrated the company’s 10th anniversary with their teams from their five branches -CDMX, Miami, Paris, Valencia, and São Paulo-, and customers, family, and friends. Ríchard Izarra, editor-in-chief of PRODU, was the master of ceremony who addressed the audience in Spanish and English.
The big surprise of the evening was the announcement of the opening of the group’s sixth office which will be located in Rio de Janeiro, it’s the second in Brazil after Sao Paulo.
Before the words of Hernández and López, was displayed a video where Liliam talks about her beginnings in the industry, the creation of her first company -Universal Labs of America-, her sister Lourdes -“rock of her inspiration”- and the arrival of Gema López, who she considers her right hand. “She (Gema) and I have made a great alliance and this is what made it possible to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Together with my experience in the industry and her capacity for solutions and intelligence, we have reached the top and we seek to go higher,” says Hernández in the video. Then followed the creation of Universal Cinergy. In the video, Hernández also pointed out that Telemundo was “crucial” to start their new stage with the dubbing of La Reina del Sur, which opened the doors for dubbing in other languages. Also, the video highlighted the importance of Turkish content, of which “they have dubbed 80%”.
López thanked the team, her family, and in particular Hernández “for running into her life.” Hernandez also thanked her long list of clients one by one.
Anaelis Hernández, Liliam’s youngest daughter, presented a recognition to both partners for their tenth anniversary, while Cecilia de la Torre, representing WAWA, awarded them with a plaque.
After the speeches and dinner, the party went into full swing, with dancing, a performance by a mariachi band, and a batucada from Brazil
