At the beginning of March, 20 positions in several business units in Univision were eliminated.
As part of these adjustments, Felipe Holguín, who was Manager of Fusion Media Group, was released. Sameer Deen, current Executive VP at Univision Digital, assumes Holguín’s duties and is now in charge of all the digital units of the Company (in Spanish and in English). Deen reports directly to Randy Falco, president, and CEO of UCI.
“As the communications media industry rapidly evolves, we focus on continuing to transform Univision Communications Inc. (Univision) for the future. As part of this process, we recently took measures to realign parts of our operations and reassign resources to invest in the growth that best serves our audience, the community and our partners” explained the company in an official statement.
More recently, Raju Narisetti, CEO of Gizmodo Media Group (GMG, part of Fusion Media Group), announced his retirement from the position.
“With the recent changes in the consolidation of all the business units that report to Fusion Media Group (FMG) in Univision, my decision makes sense from the structural perspective GMG. The Editorial Director, Susie Banikarim, will now directly supervise the entire GMG staff and the budgets related with journalism, and will work with Sameer Deen, who recently assumed the Head of Univision Digital to improve GMG, The Onion and Univision.com” explained Narisetti in a memo addressed to their personnel.
