Aiming to get even closer to its audience, Univisión launched its new programming offer for 2021-2022, highlighting two large new tentpoles: TUDN Mega-Fest and UniVisionarios.
“When we see our networks -Univisión, UniMás, and Galavisión- what we want is to further strengthen that close relationship between Univisión and its audience. When you begin there, you understand very well what we want to announce on the Upfront: creating great programming initiatives. These are cultural moments where we want that this connection is even stronger. These two tentpoles that we are announcing our very large initiatives that bring together the entire company, and where advertisers and audience come together,” explains Luis Silberwasser, president of the Univisión Television Network Group.
TUDN Mega-Fest combines two of Hispanics’ passions: soccer and music. This event will be presented live in July 2022 for consumers and media in Los Angeles. “With the main event, Liga MX Champion of Champions, we are covering a whole weekend full of programming: we will have the Ballon d’Or gala, a concert, among others,” he says.
The second -UniVisionarios- is an initiative that will run throughout the year, culminating in an awards gala on TV. “We want to recognize people who have made an enormous contribution to the lives of Hispanics in the United States, from music and art to health, politics, technology, economics, and business. We are going to recognize the game changers,” he said. This event will be launched at the end of September 2022 during Hispanic Heritage Month. Throughout the year all Univision channels and their audience will be selecting the finalists.
Silberwasser added that reality shows are back for Univision’s family Sundays (Tú Cara me Suena, Mira Quién Baila, Nuestra Belleza Latina), including the launch of Despierta América. For UniMás, they are hoping to launch backing programming for the dating show Enamorándonos which airs Monday through Friday in primetime.
