Nelson Ruiz, senior executive producer, Nonscripted Series, Entertainment, Univision
In the four year hiatus of Mira Quién Baila before returning to the screen of Univision this year for its fifth season, the show evolved a great deal, said Nelson Ruiz, the company´s senior executive producer of Nonscripted Entertainment Series.
First, they looked for celebrities who know how to dance and come from different disciplines, such as the gymnast Danell Leyva, former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, the actor Alejandro Nones and the presenter Ana Patricia. “They are renowned stars, and can dance, so we can have a great show,” he mentioned.
They also included an influencer -the Chikibombom- “who played a wonderful role and lasted up to the eight gala,” he added.
Another innovative element is the music. They included not only Latino rhythms but also other styles to take the show to a ballroom level.
The set is also entirely new. It is LED, equipped with 14 cameras that record the action. “The director plays very well with those 14 cameras that capture from the ceiling of the scenery to each corner of where we are,” said Ruiz.
Regarding brand integration, Ruiz mentioned that Listerine used the dancers in a competition outside the show and on social networks. “I find it very interesting that brands integrate that way because they generate other interesting content without losing the essence of the show,” he commented.
The final gala of Mira Quién Baila was on Sunday, November 19 at 8pm on Univision.
