Univision, UniMás and Galavisión united to simulcast La Viuda Negra premiere in the U.S.

For the first time in U.S. Hispanic media history, Univision, UniMás and Galavisión will unite to simulcast the world premiere of the new dramatic series {La Viuda Negra (The Black Widow);www.produ.tv/popup.html?noti=7772} on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at 10pm ET/PT (9pm Central) before settling in to its regular 10pm Monday through Friday time slot on UniMás. Starring Mexican actress Ana Serradilla, La Viuda Negra is based on the true “ripped-straight-from-the-headlines” story of Griselda Blanco, A-K-A “The Cocaine Godmother,” who ruled the Miami drug trade in the 70s and early 80’s. In the build-up to this historic television event, Univision’s investigative newsmagazine Aquí y Ahora will air a special on Griselda Blanco at 7pm ET/PT on the Univision Network. This one hour special edition will shed some light on the obscure life of Blanco. “It’s a fascinating look into the dark world of a woman loved by some, hated by most, and feared by all that will build on UniMás’s commitment to deliver the best Spanish-language alternative programming to U.S. audiences. By premiering her amazing, true story on our three leading networks and the Aquí y Ahora Special, we are creating a first of its kind event in Hispanic media,” said Alberto Ciurana, president of Programming and Content for Univision Networks. The announcement of is just the latest addition to the UniMás lineup of non-traditional dramatic series that includes the recent announcement of the acquisition of the exclusive rights for the dramatic series El Varón de la Droga, inspired by the true-life of the world’s most powerful drug dealer Joaquín ‘El Chapo Guzmán,’ and written by former cartel member Andres López López, and the highly anticipated Spanish-language production of the hit series Breaking Bad titled Metástasis, and produced by Sony Pictures Television.
