At the beginning of this year, Viacom International Media Networks – South Cone´s Consumer Products area, led by Ángela Cortez, was launched in Argentina. Since it is operating, it has tripled their incomes.
During the presentation of the new team that comprises this new division and the license projects for 2019, Cristian Cabero, SVP Toys International and Consumer Products Americas at Viacom International Media Networks, commented that the licensing business aims to help clients sell more and stand out in order to reach children with their favorite property.
He added that in a multiplatform context, in which children are changing the way they consume contents, the important thing is to be the owner of that content and this is a great advantage Viacom has.
“This allows us to have the flexibility of being able to place it where we want to: for example, the new version of Ninja Turtles was launched on YouTube before being launched on the linear channel,” he said.
According to the executive, the licensee must have support in the development of the product and for this, they have an internal team that offers that support continuously. He announced they continue investing in new properties because having a brand like Sponge Bob is not enough.
“You always have to renovate, get out of your comfort zone and constantly launch new IPs. What we aim for is for Nickelodeon to be recognized and the mission we have is to make this world a happier place,” he added.
