VIP 2000 TV is preparing three new film projects and has just completed production on the second season of Amores en Navidad, the group of Christmas films for Lifetime. Rosalind Rotundo, VP of the company, was at Iberseries where she elaborated on these projects.
The first film is Padres, a co-production between VIP 2000 TV and its partner Rafael Abudo Masso in Puerto Rico, family-oriented, inclusive, and about the LGBTQ+ community, which began filming in October and will be a Lifetime Original for 2024. “It is a film about a gay couple who decide to use the egg of one of their parents’ sisters to have a child. It’s a comedy, super light, family-friendly. We just bought an Italian title for syndication, My Big Italian Gay Wedding, and our first screen was Lifetime. It was a super success, and we decided to make familiar LGBTQ+ films for the region,” said Rotundo.
They are also producing Eva y Adán, a co-production with director Lilo Vilaplana’s company (Vilaplana Films), which will begin filming in November. “It’s a comedy film made 100% in Miami,” she pointed out. The plot begins when a couple at the Miami airport, about to travel to Argentina to meet their parents, have an argument and break off the engagement. When Adam leaves the airport, he takes an Uber that Eva drives. “The movie is about how these two people fall in love as they get to know Miami and Miami Beach. It is a story of comedy and romance.”
The third will be filmed in the Dominican Republic in 2024.
After making several series, Rotundo said that they decided to focus now on films for theaters or platforms.
