VIX announced today that its free ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) streaming service launched last Friday (August 14th) in Brazil, Latin America’s largest media market. In particular, VIX will be the first AVOD player to launch in Brazil on Roku’s connected TV platform.
VIX’s Brazil offering will include thousands of hours of content in Portuguese, along with VIX’s offering of over 20,000 hours of Spanish-language programming. VIX has secured Brazilian food giant Perdigão as the first sponsor of its Brazil launch. The sponsorship will include a dedicated barbeque channel featuring original cooking content and wild recipes made with Perdigão meat and chicken products.
“VIX’s expansion into Brazil marks a major milestone in our effort to super-serve our Spanish and Portuguese audiences wherever they may be,” said VIX’s CEO Rafael Urbina.
“The market opportunity in Brazil is immense. Our brand partners have been eagerly awaiting this launch as they shift more and more advertising dollars to digital. They are specifically looking at AVOD streaming services as a path to more effectively reach mobile and connected TV users,” added VIX’s Brazil country manager Enor Paiano.
This year, VIX became a Top 3 free film and TV streaming app on Roku for U.S. Hispanics, and Top 10 in every Spanish-speaking Latin American country on Roku – the first-ever free streaming app to accomplish the milestone. According to App Annie, VIX’s mobile app is now the #1 entertainment app in Mexico.
