To become the largest audiovisual content platform for the Spanish-speaking population, ViX announced an agreement with RCN of Colombia to promote its expansion to Colombia and later to South America.
“The app is already in the region, but we never launched it in a striking way. Colombia will be the door to expand to the rest of South America,” said Pierluigi Gazzolo, CEO of ViX, during the event to announce the alliance.
This union contemplates the co-production of ViX with Estudios RCN of exclusive content for the platform as well as the display in the application of the most iconic series and novels of the Colombian company such as Café con Aroma de Mujer, Chica Vampiro, Pa’ Quererte, among many others.
“Colombia is being acknowledged as very active in the industry. While it’s said that in most countries the industry is running out and open TV products are no longer seen, we find that Colombian open TV products are being recognized on international platforms,” stated José Antonio de Brigard, president of RCN Television.
A few months ago, the telenovela Ana de Nadie was one of the first productions; while it was broadcast in Colombia on the RCN, each chapter was later available on Vix for the entire region. Production had had good results and this was important to seal the agreement.
At the event, the series Tía Alison, starring Juliette Pardau, was announced. It will soon premiere on RCN and also on ViX. Also, La Sustituta, starring Majida Issa, will be the first exclusive content of the Colombian company for the platform. Gazzolo assured that RCN “will become the largest content supplier for ViX in Colombia.”
The agreement also contemplates the inclusion of ViX’s premium plan, the Win Sport Básico channel offering matches from the Colombian soccer league and a wide variety of other sporting events such as cycling, motor racing, tennis, and more.
