Pierluigi Gazzolo, CEO of ViX, spoke about the transformation of TelevisaUnivision and the growth of ViX and ViX+ since its launch during a panel at Content Americas. ViX has become the largest Spanish-language streaming service in the world in just months from its creation.
The executive mentioned that the World Cup in Qatar brought a strong audience to the AVOD service. “We know that with the support of Televisa in Mexico and Univision in the US, we started out as practically a giant in those two territories, but the work has been extremely hard and the investment has been very large, both in content and in work and technology,” said Gazzolo.
Gazzolo reported that the next action plan is to accelerate the growth of ViX+ in more regions of Latin America where the application is already available, but the penetration is not that great. “We are going to enter Colombia, Ecuador and Peru soon. Later we will replicate that strategy in the Southern Cone, but if we want to be leaders in the entire region, we know that we have to join strategic partners in each country, and invest a lot of effort to position ourselves.”
During the panel, he took the opportunity to present content from ViX Originals, with great female leads as a sign of women’s empowerment. Among these productions, Mujeres Asesinas, La Mujer del Diablo, Travesuras de la Niña Mala, by Mario Vargas Llosa, among others.
