The author of La Reina del Sur, Arturo Pérez-Reverte, renowned Spanish writer, has agreed with Patricio Wills, president of W Studios, to write a narco series called El Último Dragón.
The production of El Último Dragón will be under the responsibility of W Studios, a joint venture between Patricio Wills and Univision. Televisa will take part in the production, turning it into a new line of co-productions to respond to audiences´new consumption mechanisms.
Pérez-Reverte stated that “it has been a exciting challenge to create for TV the character of a drug dealer of the XXIst century, a story that hadn’t been told until now. The portrait of a new generation of dealers, facts, not in the violent world of shootings, loads and crossing borders, but in the offices of the of high international finances, in the boards of bank stakeholders and luxury hotels”.
This is the first time that Pérez-Reverte writes an original script for television, and it will be a story related with the life of a Mexican executive, educated in Japan, who will become a sophisticated white-collar drug dealer, with more hackers than gunmen.
The series El Último Dragón will have Blim as a first screen and it will be shot in locations in Japan, Spain, the US and Mexico.
