Along with writing it in a series-novela format, with the complication of five couple stories in different stages of life, who live in a same building, the writer of Para Verte Mejor, aired on Venevision, Mónica Montañés, states that there were difficulties regarding the situation in Venezuela – since the novela was shot during the moments of greater social conflicts – and the economic situation.
“There are five leading couples, each one with their antagonists, with a character that is the villain, Onofre Villahermosa, who is more than a classic bad guy, he is a psychopath, a criminal, who has cameras installed in all the apartments and common areas of the building, which he uses to spy on everyone. He murders the real Villahermosa and keeps his identity and properties, to transform the lives of everyone. There are murders, thefts, scams, as well as the traditional impossibilities in any novel,” she said.
Montañés explained that the novela was approved in 2016, but inflation affected the budget. “What has been more moving is to see the entire team working with all their enthusiasm. People are delighted to have a Venezuelan telenovela. The last three months of production were a true challenge, and the situation forced us to rewrite as things occurred. We achieved things that were different from traditional ones because everyone was very creative,” she explained, after concluding that the result is a great product.
