Alba Lucío is a Spanish scriptwriter who has been part of titles such as La Otra Mirada and Chiringuito de Pepe, among others, as well as co-creator of the youth´s series Noobees.
She currently continues to work, developing a series for a production company, “but it is too soon to give more details since we are in the initial phase.” Therefore, as she expressed, “in the case of fiction scriptwriters, we can develop almost 100% of our work from home, mainly when we are in the development phase”.
However, the stagnation of shootings does affect them, since the uncertainty regarding when productions will be resumed, falls on them.
“Some production companies or networks have stopped their writing processes or were about to greenlight a project and there have been delays. This situation generates fear in the sector and that is always bad for workers”, although in her case, she has not been affected by this and has continued working according to plan.
“I am very lucky because according to a study from the audiovisual rights management entity, DAMA, 62% of scriptwriters and directors have lost their job due to this situation. But I believe that the real problem is yet to come. When all of this passes, what will the audiovisual industry be? How long will it take to catch up? Will the lost jobs be recovered? Although I have not been affected right now, I am uneasy regarding the future”.
