Zee Mundo signed an agreement with Megacable Mexico to launch the channel in February to its entire digital base, as well as content in VOD. “We are practically going to duplicate our distribution in Mexico” assured Javier López Casella, general manager for US Hispanic and Latin America at Zee Entertainment.
He explained they are reaching 4 million subscribers and that this year they are focused on Mexico “because there was very good acceptance. It is the biggest market in Latin America, except Brazil, and we have a lot of new content.”
They are bringing 70 new films, “practically launching six films per month, four new series; we are going to launch the series Buda, that is a theme everybody knows, it has 55 episodes. It is ready and dubbed, and we will launch it in April.”
Additionally, they will have the second season of Jodha Akbar, “that is being very well accepted”; and Yoga Sutra, that are half-hour yoga practices, for mornings. “This is outside fiction, but it is working out very well for us.”
As for Zee Mundo Play, he stated that they already have ten thousand subscribers and are precisely going to launch more content for it to be on the platform.
