The channel Zee Mundo, that is currently in Sky in Mexico and Central America and in DishLATINO and Sling TV in US Hispanic, is experimenting a great moment of growth, according to David Cabán, director of Programming for the U.S. Hispanic Market and Latin America at Zee Mundo. The signal will celebrate its first year of operations in September.
Since June, the signal, originally launched with movie contents, began to air two high-quality series from India:
Jodha Akbar: Romance Real (100×60’), Monday evenings, and Begusarai: Tierra de Nadie (100×60’) Wednesday evenings.
“We have chosen two of the best series that have been produced in India in the last 5 years. Both series have positive ratings record when they debuted, not only in India, but in the entire Asian region. They are made in HD quality,” he stated.
These series complete a weekly varied lineup. Mondays are devoted to period stories, Tuesdays are for action (Pura Adrenalina), Wednesdays for urban stories, Thursdays are for comedy and romance with Cine Para Enamorados, Fridays are for crime and thrillers with Escena del Crimen, Saturdays are for film fans with Experiencia Total and Sundays are family time with Cine en Familia.
Cabán comments that this programming responds to the needs of an audience that is looking for a different option and that competes with what is offered on linear TV.
