Zee Mundo continues growing in the region. The channel reaches 4 million subscribers and recently managed to close agreements for the distribution of the signal in OTT services in Uruguay and Panama and surely in Argentina, announced Javier López, general manager of the signal.
Additionally, they are soon to be incorporated in Movistar TV, the agreement they reached last year, which will help the expansion of Bollywood content in the Latin American market. “We want to be in the big cable operators in Argentina, and if they have an OTT service, our Zee Mundo application is also ready to be inserted there,” he said.
This year they launched more than 30 films and are airing two new series. “In the West what is made in Bollywood is much less known, but they are films with content, with social and family values that have a special appeal. Bollywood is great content that people have to see to discover new flavors.”
López has great expectations with the success of the incorporation of linear channels in digital platforms. “Traditional TV is going to continue, but young people are increasingly watching loose content on demand on their cell phones. We must be available for those two audiences. We thought that linear channels were not going to work on digital and it is proven they do. In our platform, 50% of what is consumed is the linear channel” he added.
