Jurado El Sol
The Grand Jury of the El Sol Festival led by Chavo D’Emilio, president of McCann Buenos Aires and ECD of McCann LatAm, said the technology of the event with its online jury allowed the on-site team to focus on the best works. “The festival had a combination of entries from Latin America, which together with the works from Spain showed we have a solid, strong region” D’Emilio said. He reflected on the data age the industry is going through: “With so much information on habits and behavior, the big point is what to do with all those facts and figures. Advertising is alive and we feed it not only with emotions but also with the vast amount of technology surrounding us. In this edition of the festival, we could see this very clearly.” Alfonso Gonzalez, CSO of Havas Media Spain, on the jury for Design, Innovation, Media and Integrated Campaigns, noted that they studied each one of the competing pieces three times. Eduardo Marques, CCO of Publicis Spain, added that it has been a historic year for El Sol with its global entries, none without its digital element. Having creativity from so far so near is one of the key elements of the festival. “In the case of El Sol, it’s at a global level. It has a closer feeling. It has character. It’s like having the pulse of the region on a global stage,” D’Emilio said. “Cultural diversity gives it a different impact” Gonzalez added. Gustavo Lauría, co-founder and CCO of We Believers and an international juror, said the decisions they reached were all unanimous, which speaks very well of the winners’ creativity. The press conference was led by Cristina Barturen, co-director of El Sol; Chavo D’Emilio, president of McCann Buenos Aires and ECD of McCann LatAm; Alfonso Gonzalez, CSO of Havas Media Spain; Eduardo Marques, CCO of Publicis Spain; and Gustavo Lauria, co-founder and CCO of We Believers.
