The company’s social network has created a new feature that will allow businesses to advertise directly to people who are in close range. Called Local Announcements Recognition, the application promotes the ability of companies to easily reach their market by using this novel proposal to create tools, select local awards and choose the size of the radius of the target group. The Internet marketing expert and CEO of WebiMax, Ken Wisnefski, thinks that this feature is another example of the kind of innovations that have put Facebook ahead when social media is involved. “If a company that has 100 stores in the USA can display information that correlates with the closest location to the site visitor, it will see a higher return,” Wisnefski says. An important number of companies have been focusing on the use of geo- location as part of their strategy to dynamically provide information based on geographic location, allowing a more effective market segmentation for those corporations who did not have that capacity.In this way, Facebook will simplify the implementation of the new application and in a mobile media that most people are familiar with.
