The Gunn Report, global index of creative excellence in advertising, published yesterday its book Showreel 2014, a selection of the best of last year´s advertisement performance. The samples were based on the result of 45 prizes and regional national and global creativity contests. The guest publisher of this edition of the Gunn Report is Malcom Poynton, creative director of Cheil, who wrote the introduction: Ad Agencies, who needs them? It also includes the Messages to the Industry in 2015, by the guest essayists Jean Lin, global CEO of Isobar and Rob Reilly, creative chairman at McCann Worldgoup.Lin´s essay, Creativity Liberated suggests that “there are only two major roles in the contemporary creative team: the storyteller and the software developer”. In turn, it says that “great ideas have immediate results in real time. Most times the solution to the problem is not going to be an ad.”Reilly´s Creative is the only way to survive analyzes creative problem solving with examples in which agencies innovate in a way that truly responds to the clients´ needs. It provides the example of the election of Pope Francis, who, through creativity is reviving the most ancient corporation in the world.Donald Gunn, founder of the report, considers it “not just a reminder of revolutionary ideas that make this industry special, but also an inspirational and educational tool for those who want to learn more about the power of creativity”.
