The Internets half-year revenues from advertising reached $20.1 billion this year, according to the IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report published last Oct. 15, and which represents an increase of 18 percent over the same period last year when revenues were some $17 billion.Keeping the trend going, the second quarter of 2013 also showed a year-on-year increase of 18 percent, reaching $10.3 billion.Among the most noteworthy points of the report was that revenues from advertising on mobile platforms shot up to $3 billion in the first quarter of 2013 an increase of 145 percent over the same period the year before. Search revenues in the first half of the year reached $8.7 billion, with another $6.1 billion from advertising displays.Randall Rothenberg, president and CEO at IAB, said: Digital has steadily increased its ability to captivate consumers and then capture the marketing dollars that follow. Mobile advertisings breakneck growth is evidence that marketers are recognizing the tremendous power of smaller screens.
