Fast food chain, KFC, recently updated the image of Colonel Sanders with comedian Norm Macdonald. Prior to this, they had introduced actor Darrell Hammond to interpret the icon, but Macdonald’s irreverent personality has helped build a more fun relationship with the audience. The campaign is titled: The REAL Colonel Sanders is back, again, but for real this time. In the last five days, the new Colonel´s commercial has had 2.7 views on YouTube and more than 1.8 million on Facebook. The post on the social network has been shared more than 3,600 times and has more than 8,400 likes. Since the relaunch, the brand has gone through a 1,289% increase in digital engagement, according to ListenFirst Media. On Twitter the campaign didn’t make so much noise: it had 500 favorites and 220 retweets.They have also advertised in traditional media sucha as CNN, People, Entertainment Weekly, CBS, Fox, and The Huffington Post. Its {website;http://www.colonelsanders.com} is an important effort to promote this last campaign.With the relaunch of the main icon of the brand, they have added comedy to their content for social networks. The images of the product have been changed to pictures of the Coronel as a unicorn or as the Statue of Liberty. The audience has had mixed reactions to the Colonel´s new personality, but the company’s CEO, Greg Creed, feels that “they´re actually talking about KFC, you can market to love and hate; you cannot market to indifference.”
