Honoring classroom excellence and soccer skills, Toyota invited hundreds of youngsters and their families to a ceremony awarding $5,000 scholarships to star athletes Edwin Dominguez and Josue Varela in recognition of their schoolwork, ethics and performance on the field during the 2019 Soccer Alliance trials.“Toyota recognizes the importance of soccer in the lives of many of our Hispanic guests, since this sport is an essential part of their culture,” said Matt Ozawa, manager of Engagement Marketing for Toyota Motor North America. “These students are an example of the spirit of determination, dedication and drive to be both exceptional students and star soccer players. We congratulate them and their families, who together are making their dreams come true.” During the event, some Alliance players had the chance to take part in a soccer clinic headed by now-retired Mexican soccer legend Jorge Campos, who joined with Toyota to share his story. “Jorge Campos has been the perfect ambassador during our Toyota campaign Choose the Difficult Field” said Conill Creative Director Veronica Elizondo, whose agency kicked off the initiative. “His combination of passion, skill, knowledge and empathy has brought an amazing level of real humanity to each interaction with our fans. We are excited with this recent event and are happy to work with such an exceptional organization as the Alliance.”
