Reyes: Empezaría por los pagos igualitarios para promover la igualdad de género en la industria
“See every job as an opportunity to do something great and always have fun doing it” is the advice that has accompanied Olga Reyes, Executive Creative Director at Lopez Negrete Communications during her successful career. In an interview, she shared that “talent and greatness has no gender. Women can rise up to the challenge and produce brilliant work for the industry.”The first action that Reyes would implement to promote gender equality in the advertising world would be equal pay. “Women work twice as hard to get a promotion and are paid less for the same brilliance” she expressed.Judy John, Chief Creative Officer and Becky Swanson, Creative Director at Leo Burnett and Lauren Greenfield, Campaign Director, all three responsible for the campaign #LikeAGirl are the Cannes winners who inspire her. “I loved seeing a trio of women succeed with a viral campaign that promotes women’s empowerment. A brilliant idea brilliantly executed.”Her advice for the Hispanic market is to believe in its power. “Believe in the power of our market. Our culture, values and traditions are so ingrained in our identity that only a Hispanic agency can fully understand the meaning. We are able to understand and connect with our audience through the richness of our language, our humor and our emotions in a way that the general market will never be able to.”She highlighted that throughout her career she was never afraid to give her opinion or express her point of view. “God gave me a brain and a mouth, so I use them.”
