Netflix started the year with changes for their subscribers: in January, they announced raises between 13% and 18% in the cost of the subscription in the US and Latin America, with the exception of their key markets, Mexico and Brazil, effective immediately for new clients and which reached their old clients this month. However, as of Thursday March 14, Mexico and Brazil also suffer the measure.

Regarding the increase in the fees in the rates in the region and the rest of the world, the company expressed that what they do to continue investing in the best in entertainment and continue improving the experience. “Our goal is to make sure that Netflix always has a high quality-price relation. We work day and night to offer a superior service, always with more and better content,” explained the platform through their communications.

In Mexico, for example, the basic plan increased from US$5.78 to US$6.72. The standard changed from US$7.76 to US$ 8.80. On the other hand, the premium plan rose from US$10.36 to US$11.92.

Along with price increase, it was recently revealed that the platform eliminated the free test month that was available across Latin America, except Brazil and Puerto Rico. In the US and Spain, the measure was also applied.

“We are testing the availability and duration of a free test to better understand the value of Netflix for consumers. Generally, these tests vary in duration and according to the region, and they might not be permanent,” explained Netflix in view of the doubts generated by the decision.
