Rainbow and Viacom have a successful eight-year relationship that began when they did together the animation Winx Club. Iginio Straffi, founder and CEO of Rainbow, highlights that Viacom presented him several stories to co-produce and they considered that Club 57 was the best for Italian audiences because thanks to the topic of the 50s and the music it could create empathy with the tweens and teenagers”.

Straffi says that they discussed, together with Rai Italia, what the next big hit could be, after the series Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends. “Why not a project with Nickelodeon that has these stories that are a bit different, that last one hour and not half an hour?”

The writer Catharina Ledeboer worked closely with the Rainbow team on the development of the story. “From the cast, the writing, all the way to the songs, Rainbow had a very important influence on the series to ensure that the audience would like it, not only in Italy but in the European community where they have plans to distribute it,” he commented.
